How should a wife react when her husband always insults her & address her by using abusive language?

True, leaving would be the most sensible thing to do... the official afters is something you can arrange from a distance.
What husband would such a thing anyways, if you love your wife.
It does happen a lot in India. There is a tv court program where wife's complain about abusive husbands and in one episode the wife said she was forced to be a prostitute.

By the way, because this behaviour is typically a control issue, leaving is usually the most dangerous time because then the husband realises he has lost control of his wife.
So although it is instinctive to tell people to go, such advise should not be given lightly. Many times it is better to make a plan that can be carried out later.

It's true it happens all over the world but in India we have the idea of "pati parmeshwar" and in our culture women are treated much better than in western countries cause of certain conditionings in our culture and way of life.
In India we see women being treated with respect somewhat more than in other countries and yet there are cases where these women are taken advantage of and abused.
It seems we are becoming more and more western and losing our past values?

Why blaming the West for each and every social defect? And what are the past values of India - child marriage? widows burnt on the funeral pyre? oppressive caste system? You know, in every society there are ugly things, not only in the West.

I think that the most sensible thing would be to leave him, but this people tend to be dangerous and agressive, so I'd say that it's better to very quickly try to establish with some relatives or friends but not say a word until you are due to leave, or better, already out. When someone behaves like that mostly there is a total lack of respect for the other, mainly due to personal issues that you my not even know, and as usual, the easy thing is to put the blame on the weakest or most susceptible person around. There is no improvement for that, not even with psycological help. I think taking off is the only solution.
